Weee. Been sorting out all the character profiles (and the battle system) for one of my stories named BattleBotix (BBx when shortened).

This has also meant I've been thinking about interactions between characters, and how certain parts of the story unfold.

I don't really want to say much about it because I'd end up saying too much and spoiling the story for everyone but I'll try and give a general summary of the story, or at least describe where it happens.

Welcome to the island of Phi - a man-made island situated somewhere in Eurasia. It stands at the forefront of technology and science (to the point that even your fridge can connect to a store and order food), something of which the government is very proud of, and it holds non-violent rivalries with other technologically advanced cultures such as Japan. However, a good number of the citizens from Phi are from around the world, attracted to the island to its relatively cheap price of living and so, translation technologies are heavily used to the point that everyone residing in the capital of Phi, Digibeta, where the story of BBx takes place, has to wear CTPs (Communication Transmission Packs - customisable headsets worn on one ear) that are connected to the network infrastructre of the city.
Recently, a new Phinyan fad has hit both the island and the world, a battling robots game known as BattleBotix. Its popularity is down both the price of the robots, the design and range of robots available, and the ability to 'port' existing robots over to the BBx Network. Its upgrade feature is also attractive, as it does not require any money (although it is possible to buy upgrades with cash). Upgrades can be 'bought' when the Commander (the user of the robot) manages to collect enough Battle Points, which act like experience, (and even losing a battle gives you some points - just not as many as winning, naturally), and open up the robot to receiving new parts, allowing it to have access to more program card types, and higher level program cards (these are used to give additional attacks other than the inbuilt attacks, as well as assistance during battle, and the existence of virus cards means there are some hostile ways to win a battle - like upgrades they're bought with BattlePoints and/or money) and in some cases, give new skills and attacks.
The entire BBx system is handled through the CTPs through modules.

Teagirl Mania!

Oh god. I'm so sorry people who enjoy A Short Time Ago.
I brought back Britland City over at SheezyArt and thus got addicted to drawing Teagirl and co. again.

Then I did some MSN doodle comics, introducing the new Mayor of Britland City, who for reasons unknown, can turn into a key. I also did another one where the Datasafebase is introduced to Teagirl - just to get a feel for his personality.

And then...then came Coffeeboy's redesign, and his and Teagirl's "eye catch", spawned by another friend's eyecatch styled picture of his villain, Red Bull.

I have, however, got the next A Short Time Ago comic pencilled out, ready for inking, it's just...I'm working on a comic about Mayor Thatcher too. It may or may not include fanservice (bad Shi, bad!)

hellohello

Hello (3rd time lucky?) again, my dear Voxites.

I apologise if this post is going to sound a little rushed, I did have a nice long post detailing my emotional trampolining these last few weeks in a rather eloquent manner, but when I added some pictures (which will be added later in this post), accidentally clicking it made it disappear (I thought it used to be saved in a cache, but I guess that doesn't happen with Firefox 3 anymore) and Vox's 'Recover' didn't help. Sigh.

Anyway, I do believed I compared the ups and downs as flying out of the atmosphere, and sinking far beneath the sea, possibly to the liquidised layer of our core - which was heavily asked about in one of my exams. My attention reduced to mere minutes and my ability to put up with the annoyances of others and my dog ripped to shreds like a pigeon flying into a jet engine during these last few weeks.

Not a pleasant thing, I know, but it can be only be expected by the things that accompany the crucial exam period, the 'these are my last exams and I won't get a chance to re-do them, and I need to get the highest grades possible (A) so that I can go to the University I want to and not have to go to Scotland just to learn why things that work in theory never work in practise, just so I can show off to an employer with my amazing presentation skills and knowledge of the Universe.' kind of stresses.

I've also had the added responsibility of being 'mother' whilst my mother took her first trip outside of the UK, sat in sunny climates - going on sunny cruises, and paying £10 just to cross the borders of a country (the easiest way to make money from tourists I guess), so my vocal chord are worn out from whining at my brother to do his chores and shouting at the dog to get down. Ah well.

This has made me tired; knowing it's all over. Now that I've given myself the afternoon to relax, I feel more fatigued after relaxing, than if I had yet another exam tomorrow - and I expect to be stricken down with illness in the next few days, but I don't mind, I could use an entire day in bed. Still, I have more time than I can shake a stick at now, and that spells a number of things.

Apologies for the delay in posting, but there have been exams, exam results and mini-assessments to contend with, as well as a blood donation that went a bit iffy more than once.

So here are the last few pictures I have drawn:

Those first two are done in Copic Markers (my all time favourite now), with the first being the most recent.
Those last three were done using the Flash Applet over at Tegaki, where, like everywhere else, I am a shadow-lurker. Hah.

New Picture

Hey there. Long time, no speak.
Before I get to the picture posting, I want to take the time to thank some of the neighbourhood watch for their thoughts on my banner image dilemma.

If you're wondering, the banner I'm using now is edited from one of my older sites that is no longer floating on the internet except in a partially archived form (thank you archive.org)

Okay, so now, onto the picture;

Leonora and Celeris

Things you might want to note that I am already aware of;

1. The background - it sucks, it looks flat, etc. The grey didn't show up (check the shadows on Leonora's dress - they're done in the same grey) and I haven't quite got the grip of using Copic makers on the background, so it's looking very flat.

2. Clouds can't hold people. Yeah well, angels don't physically exist either do they?

EDIT: Since I have done another picture, thought I'd add it here instead of in an entirely new post. How nice of me;

Phenex Banks

My lovely, adorable Phenex Banks who hasn't been drawn as much as the precious Celeris du Apium. I think this makes a change from my normally bright and colourful drawings. Someone wants me to do more and then release them as as wallpaper. I personally, would like this as a series of bookmarks. The rest; Celeris, Leonora, Ilo, Amadeus, Martini, J, and possibly Nayan (Celeris' mother) and Deliah (Phenex's mother).

I have come to realise...

Normally I dislike doing these things, and sometimes I like them.
Journal memes, is what we named them over at SheezyArt. Of course, I do not go there as often as I used to. I'm out of touch with the humour style (well, I always have been, but it's not as bad as it is now)

Yes I'm Almost a Month Behind

...but I finally got to see Cloverfield tonight. In fact, I have just gotten home from seeing it.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to give a decent review or even a decent insight into my opinion without spoiling crucial moments, because it was these moments that shaped my opinion - like I actually expected the ending to end the way it did - except I didn't expect the last 5 seconds - which my more satanic side took pleasure in. So I'm just going to mention some parts that I don't consider spoilers.

Firstly, I absolutely adored the design of the monster - it didn't scream Hollywood, but why would you want it too? It looked like a real monster - grotesque, alien, out of this world - although I was expecting something a bit more on the Godzilla scale. I mean, it was a pretty huge monster - but it seemed a bit shrimpy on the monster scale.

Did anyone else find it...well..not as scary as people made it out to be? My friends made it seem like I'd be scared poopless throughout the movie - and although some things did surprise me - I suppose because I was expecting to be scared - I just wasn't.

I'm just glad I didn't suffer from motion sickness.

The Problems with Title Images

As much as I hate to ask things of other people; I can't help but notice how my blog looks a little bare - due to the absence of a nice blog title image.

Admittedly, I have tried to make one in the past by drawing - and I get to the end before I look at it and wonder what I was thinking. I'm not particularly savvy with Photoshop to make spiffy effects either - and as for actually deciding what I want in this image - I am clueless and indecisive. Do I want a stylised-self portrait? Maybe I should draw the main characters of my many stories or perhaps just some random art? Maybe I should try editing pictures I've already done - but as I say - I'm useless at Photoshopping for Graphic Design.

Perhaps, since writing this has sparked an interesting concept, I should have little squares on the right hand side with pictures (done with markers because I have fallen out with my graphics tablet) with a picture to represent each story?

The thing that normally stops me is what the title image should be, and what it is.
A title image is representation of yourself - whether fully or partly, a title image, along with the rest of the design of the blog, gives off the first impression of your personality, what you like, perhaps how you visualise things? It serves to catch the eye - to give people that extra reason to read your blog. It possibly adds familiarity to the blog if you use it over a long period of time.

That said - the title of my blog doesn't lend itself easily to a design - it claims to be a tea house (just from the sound of 'Fesoes') yet is the writing pad of an 'artist' who currently finds herself overwhelmed with school and abnormal teen antics (which are never discussed for anti-angst sentiments).

So what am I asking?
Mainly thoughts on the issue of what you believe is a good blog title image design - or a discussion on how you picked yours. For those feeling creative (and very generous) maybe some conceptual ideas. I like input.

What's up with the Postmen lately?

As I write this, I hold in my hand the package I have been waiting for. Granted, it took so long because I gave the company the wrong house number, but that's not why I am writing this.

No, the reason I am writing this is because the packaging was torn in two, and I don't mean torn open and then taped back together by some prying eyes (although I've heard accounts of that happening). I mean, the postman was so lazy/eager to get the thing through the letter box that he shoved it, along with the other post in our house through the letterbox which was just about big enough to fit things through - which lead to the tearing of the package and the severe crumpling of my mother's letters.

The funny thing about this was that I was supposed to be getting this particular package through a private courier, and supposed to be signing for it. How do I know? Email!

This isn't even the first complaint I've had recently with the Royal Mail. Over Christmas, they've delivered extremely important mail (I've been getting invitation letters from Universities I've applied to) to the wrong house and last week they told me to pick up another package (my markers) that they then could not find until the next day.

It's a sad day when the postal services, including private couriers, both lie and then disregard your property. My trust in the Royal Mail is waning - I believe they're only still the major way to post things in the UK because of having the cheapest postage prices (although this is becoming debatable) and government grants. I honestly swear if I had the money, I'd use a more reliable service to send things to people (luckily I don't do it often).

Celeris, Dogeknewl, Miyoko, Pepper, Sence!

I got my flesh-tone markers today!
My only qualm with this picture is that I rushed the line art, was too impatient to do full-body pics, mucked up the shading and the smearing of some of the ink when it came to shading the face.

In case you're wondering, these are, where possible, the lead females of various story ideas I have. From top left to bottom (going left-to-right); Dogeknewl (Once Upon a Time), Sence (Black&White), Pepper Roni (Sal's Army), Miyoko (BBx), Celeris (Capio Phasmatis) and Linden (SpellShocked). By lead female, I mean, the protagonist of the story (as such, Comet! does have a lead female - Makaio - but the series follows Elliot). In most of my stories, the lead is shared with males, and I should get around to doing a version of this with the male leads; although the gender of Nicky (SpellShocked) is one to be debated - and it'll feature Elliot, whom does not have a female counterpart, in place of BBx's male 'lead' which doesn't exist.

I had my C3 exam today - that was fun. For once, I finished an A-Level exam with 25 minutes to spare - which worried me, and my friend. Next exam? Physics - on Monday.
